Summer Reading List…

I love summer for a number of reasons. Besides the warm weather and family vacation, I love the extra window of time summer adds for reading. There are so many books and so little time, but here are a few books on my summer reading list:

Your Church Is Too Safe

Mark Buchanan pastors on Vancouver Island, is part of our Arrow faculty team and was one of my Arrow classmates. This is a follow-up to Your God Is Too Safe. I’ve already started into this one – it’s wonderfully inspiring and extremely challenging. Our entire elder’s board is reading it over the summer. Read at your own risk!

Platform

I’ve already been enjoying Hyatt’s daily blogposts along with over 225,000 others and I look forward to reading Platform. The premise is how to get your message noticed in a very noisy world. It looks like there are lots of practical ideas based on his experience and expertise.

Radical

Just in case I’m not rattled enough by Your Church Is Too Safe, I’ve got Platt’s Radical at the ready.  The sub-title says it all – “Taking back your faith from the American Dream”. The call is to radical abandonment in following Jesus.

Your Ears Will Hear

I’m also working through a journal called Your Ears Will Hear. It’s written by Steve and Evy Klassen who direct The Mark Centre in Abbotsford, BC. The Mark Centre is a retreat centre seeking to help people embrace a lifestyle of listening to God. The journal provides a short vignette followed by some great questions to encourage time listening to God.

What’s on Your Reading List?

I’m looking forward to sharing more about my summer reading in the months to come. Please look for more – and…please post some of your summer reading selections!
