2021 Reflection Tool

It’s hard to describe 2021.

Though we hoped for and maybe even expected easier paths for 2021, it has been a year of more chaos, change, complexity and challenge for many leaders. Whether you are running on fumes or have fresh wind in your sails, it is important to make some space to reflect with God on the year that has been.

Taking time for reflection is a critical practice for leaders. Reflection fosters learning, stimulates growth, calls for course corrections, identifies priorities, releases burdens and renews focus and energy.

At this time each year we provide leaders with a free tool for you, your team or your family to reflect This year’s reflection tool focuses on three key areas:

1. Grieving: It has been a year of more chaos, change, complexity and challenge. Hard decisions have been made, fatigue has been endured, and many have faced losses. No one likes to grieve, but grieving with God is a biblical, healthy and needed outlet, especially in a year like this one.

2. Celebrating: Even in hard seasons there are blessings, special surprises and concrete examples of God’s goodness and provision. Celebrating is good, and most of us need to celebrate more than we do. We also need to thank God and celebrate His goodness above all.

3. Entrusting: How are you feeling about the year ahead? Whether you have hopes, dreams, fears or worries, we are called to entrust all to God. The end result is greater freedom and peace.

You can engage this exercise on your own and/or with your team or family over the next few weeks. You will need an hour, some quiet, paper/journal and a pen. Just follow the instructions for personal or team reflection.
