Arrow Leadership Profile

Arrow Leadership International Ministries was founded in 1992 when the Arrow Leadership Program was operated in the USA under the auspices of Leighton Ford Ministries. In Canada, the Arrow Leadership Program began in 1994 under the leadership of Brenda Pue. Upon the stepping down of its founder Dr. Leighton Ford in 1998, Arrow Leadership moved its international headquarters to Vancouver, British Columbia from where the North American operation is conducted. Rev. Dr. Carson Pue became president of Arrow Leadership International Ministries in 1998 after serving as Executive Director of [Insight for Living] Ministries, the radio broadcast ministry of Charles Swindoll in Canada.

Based on a unique and proven method of individualized leadership development, Arrow works with leaders over a period of time and include multiple layers to the development process. Mentoring is a significant component of their effectiveness. Carson Pue is the author of Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling and Competency by Baker Books.

Internationally, Arrow Leadership programs are being conducted in the United Kingdom, Poland and Australia, Norway and New Zealand. Carson Pue serves as the Primus Inter Pare (first among equals) for what is known globally as the Arrow Alliance - the association of directors conducting the Arrow Leadership Program in their cultures.

Arrow Leadership is a registered charity in Canada, an associate member of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities and a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability in the USA.

Arrow continues to be on the cutting edge of Christian leadership training. This is evidenced by the high level of applications and the requests by many Christian ministries to form a strategic alliance. Arrow believes that leaders that shake the Kingdom and the world cannot be mass-produced, they are sharpened and polished one by one into effective arrows that fulfill their God-given calling. Arrow’s passion and purpose is to identify and significantly invest in the lives of proven, emerging Christian leaders who have a clear anointing and calling by God. Pue emphasizes they are not looking for just any Christian leaders. Arrow looks to pour into the lives of a select few who are Kingdom seekers, not empire builders; proven leaders with potential, not potential leaders; anointed, not interested; gifted, not average; authentic, not superficial; relevant, not cliché; teachable, not just knowledgeable.

Arrow exists to identify emerging leaders who are at a point in their life where a strategic investment in them would result in a profound leveraged response for good.

Arrow exists to identify emerging leaders who are at a point in their life where a strategic investment in them would result in a profound leveraged response for good. At this point, not investing in them could result in a downturn. While assisting leaders to cultivate the right mix of calling, character and competency, Arrow seeks to develop leaders who are led more by Jesus, who lead more like Jesus, and who lead more to Jesus.

Arrow’s goal is to expand each leader’s longevity and capacity for their calling. The leaders Arrow invests in will on average have a sphere of influence of 1,700 people. For every class of 24 leaders Arrow invests in, they are impacting over 40,800 people. Arrow Leadership Program graduates and current students are already shaping the Christian landscape through their leadership roles in their denominations and organizations. On November 30, 2006, Arrow celebrated 1000 graduates from their intensive leadership training program.
