






Dr. Mitch Whitman holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Seattle Pacific University, and is currently in private practice at Discovery Counseling Associates in Bellingham, Washington. He also holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and a graduate Diploma in Christian Studies from Regent College. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and is a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and National Association for the Research & Treatment of Homosexuality (NARTH).
Mitch has worked in the mental health field for 20 years. His experience has included social work with Child Protective Services (CPS), and clinical work at Skagit Discovery with severely behaviorally disordered children and youth, the Burnaby Christian Counseling Group in British Columbia, where he developed a sexual offender/sexual addictions treatment program, and at Bayside Associates where he completed his clinical doctoral internship. He enjoys working with individuals, couples and groups, in both short-term cognitive and behavioral therapy, as well as longer-term psychodynamic therapy. Areas of specialty include recovery from childhood trauma, mood disorders, sexual identity disorders, sexual addiction, marital/relational conflict and infidelity, and faith and spirituality issues. He leads an on-going men's therapy group focusing on sexual compulsivity. He is trained in EMDR and psychological testing and assessment.
Mitch is married to Jill, a concert harpist, and they have two beautiful young girls. He enjoys traveling, mountain biking, and skiing, and is learning how to fly fish.
