Bio of Scott Vandeventer – President, Arrow Leadership USA

Scott Vandeventer is the President of Arrow Leadership USA. Scott and his team are intent on developing Arrow’s presence deeply within the United States. Scott has built two companies in his career, coming to Arrow from Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU) in Brea, California where he was the Chief Operating Officer for twenty-one years.

While at ECCU, Scott was instrumental in forming a partnership with Arrow that created four urban, multi-ethnic classes. Today, that program boasts more than eighty leaders who are either presently in the program or alumni. It serves as a model for programs Arrow is developing regionally in the United States.

Scott describes Arrow as a place where he can speak into emerging, top-level leaders, ripe with potential. He believes unquestionably that they will lead. There is no possible way they won’t. “We get to help them learn how to lead in such a way that they have the best chance of discovering and managing, for themselves, the limits of their character. Imagine the leadership failures that could be avoided if more understood their limits and what to do about them! The possibilities are limitless.”

Scott is a graduate of Biola University in La Mirada, California with an inter-disciplinary degree in Communication, Business and Philosophy. He has completed much post-graduate work in management, strategy, negotiation, marketing, technology and system dynamics at schools ranging from Stanford Graduate School of Business, MIT Sloan School, Harvard Business School and California State University—Fullerton’s Graduate School of Business. He loves being a StrengthFinders’ coach.

Scott serves as guest faculty, speaking on strategy, for Arrow Leadership and is a one-on-one mentor and leadership partner. Scott also served on Arrow’s Board of Directors. He is a guest lecturer on business-to-business marketing at Biola University’s School of Business.

Scott describes himself as a “pro-pastor laymen,” meaning he loves to help pastors figure out how to help people become the kind of people God can trust with his power. No church is dearer than where he regularly serves and worships, Richfield Community Church. As the church’s governing board chair, and serving on a team leading small group leaders, Scott gets to help people pursue relationships and through them be renewed, and often repaired, in their souls. “Sheer joy” he says.

Yorba Linda, California is home for Scott, his wife Martha and their family. For fun, he rides a road bike, pedaling 23,000+ miles in the last seven years. He is a choral vocalist (bass); once a professional photographer; enjoys flyfishing in streams mostly (caught a 40 inch steelhead on a nymph in Alaska!), ballroom dancing, reading, white-water rafting and flying light airplanes (he is a private pilot with an instrument rating). He has traveled quite a bit, mostly in Europe, but having the most fun in Kosovo teaching English and building joy-filled communities of faith.
